| Description: |
LS9 is seeking an experienced Manager for its Bioinformatics Group to contribute to the development
of LS9's fuel and chemical products. The successful candidate will lead the implementation and refinement of LS9's
integrated data acquisition and analysis functions. This includes enhancing LS9's LIMS system and data management
architecture as well as the development of mathematical models and algorithms to support data processing and mining
for enzyme, organism, and process engineering. The successful candidate will have a strong command of statistics
and experience in the management of genome annotation pipelines and the comparison of homologous sequences for the
purpose of elucidating protein structure and function. This position is hands-on and requires managing staff "from the bench."
Teamwork and frequent interaction with molecular biologists, enzymologists, analytical, process, and automation
scientists is required. The candidate will guide the team in specifying and procuring appropriate bioinformatics
software, hardware and auxiliary tools. The candidate will participate actively in project teams and interact with
multidisciplinary teams and will be required will be able to work independently as well as in team settings. |
| Position Requirements: |
- PhD in Informatics/Chemistry/Biochemistry or related science.
- Several years of experience in genetic and/or protein bioinformatics, preferably having worked within the Biotechnology industry.
- Ability to understand and/or develop mathematical models for mutant protein design and hit scoring.
- Familiarity with LIMS systems.
- Working knowledge of molecular biology, biochemistry, enzymology, and metabolism.
- Familiar with state of the art protein engineering technologies.
- Ability to critically analyze results and present data and conclusions.
- Command of statistics.
- Motivated self starter with good organizational skills.
- Ability to function productively in fast paced multidisciplinary environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
