Senior Research Associates/Associate Scientists (Molecular Biology/Synthetic Biology/Microbiology Techniques)

LS9, an industrial biotechnology company that is developing a portfolio of sustainable fuel and chemical products, seeks Senior Research Associates/Associate Scientists experienced in state-of-the-art Molecular Biology/Synthetic Biology/Microbiology techniques. The successful candidates will play an integral role in LS9's strain development and improvement efforts. He/she will work in a diverse, multi-disciplined team environment. Frequent interaction with molecular biologists, synthetic biologists, enzymologists, fermentation specialists, analytical chemists and automation scientists is part of the job. The candidate will participate actively in project and functional teams and will be able to work independently, as well as in team settings.

Specific Requirements:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or a related discipline plus 1-5 years of academic or industrial experience.
  • Proficiency with state-of-the-art molecular biology techniques, including gene knock-outs and other genome engineering techniques
  • Experience with cultivation and analysis of microorganisms such as E. coli or yeast
  • Familiarity with Synthetic Biology methods, such as SOEing and library constructionFamiliarity with using automation equipment and basic knowledge of statistics
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, multi-task, and remain flexible with changing needsMust be motivated and able to work under tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills, documentation, organization, and record keepingAttention to detail, safety, and good laboratory practice

Position Requirements :

  • Engineer microbial genomes and construct plasmids Construct and screen diversity libraries  
  • Perform microbial fermentation experiments using microtiter plates and shake flasks; and analyze strains using biological, biochemical, and analytical methods in medium and high throughput
  • Prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols, SOPs, and quantitative analyses
